Rev. Cornelius was born
February 21, 1946, in Lancaster, SC, to the late Rev. Roosevelt Cornelius
and Emma Ruth Cornelius. He is the third of seven children born to his
mother. Rev. Cornelius was moved to Winston-Salem while still a young
child. He attended the local public schools and graduated from Atkins High
School, class of 1965. Rev. Cornelius was married to the late Gwendolyn
Colter Cornelius and has three children Sandra, Sammy and Konova. He is a
retired employee of R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, having worked there
more than 25 years.
In 1974, Rev. Cornelius was called by
God to preach His Word. He preached his first sermon, " Have Your
Lights Gone Out? " with certainty that God had an anointing on his
life.
In 1979, Rev. Cornelius became the
pastor of New Jerusalem, a church where he had spent many childhood days.
He has definitely made a difference in this place of worship. Many
programs have been instituted, many souls saved and a new structure
erected. It is no doubt that Rev. Cornelius is a special servant of God.
He preaches the word, challenges tithing, and helps those in need. He is a
deserving Pastor who lets his light shine.
Rev. Cornelius is also a 33rd Degree
Mason, an Eastern Star, and a friend to man. We thank God for Samuel James
Cornelius.
